This is a picture of my home for the winter. Down here it is simply known as the "blue house" across the street from the park. You see the north exposure of a tri-level home. It has one bedroom upstairs and then from the north enterance you step up three stairs and enter the kitchen eating room. Then on the west you descend four steps to a room used as both a sleeping area and office/living area. It is very comfortable for a couple or maybe a small family but in much smaller houses you find families with 5, 6, 7 children. Today's generation of Belizian's have much smaller families usually two or three. Two generations ago the family size was in the 8-12 range of children.
It is not a McDonald's or Burger King's "The home of the Whopper" or "The bucket of Chicken" from KFC but it is Belize's answer to any of them. This is what the individual with drive can accomplish in a village of appoximately 2000 people. It sure doesn't look like much but the Bretta's and Salabutta's are the menu of this little kitchen. Again, it points out the importance of location. It is immediately across the street from the school and a new resource center which was just opened.
This is the fast food served at this loacal establishment.
