Corn Stocks Up 1 Percent from June 2009
Soybean Stocks Down 4 Percent
All Wheat Stocks Up 48 Percent

Corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 4.31 billion bushels, up 1 percent from June 1, 2009. Of the total stocks, 2.13 billion bushels are stored on farms, down 3 percent from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, at 2.18 billion bushels, are up 6 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2010 indicated disappearance is 3.38 billion bushels, compared with 2.69 billion bushels during the same period last year.

Soybeans stored in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 571 million bushels, down 4 percent from June 1, 2009. On-farm stocks totaled 233 million bushels, up 3 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 338 million bushels, are down 9 percent from a year ago. Indicated disappearance for the March - May 2010 quarter totaled 699 million bushels, down 1 percent from the same period a year earlier.

All wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 973 million bushels, up 48 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks are estimated at 210 million bushels, up 49 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 763 million bushels, are up 48 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2010 indicated disappearance is 383 million bushels, down slightly from the same period a year earlier.

Durum wheat stocks in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 34.6 million bushels, up 38 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 23.9 million bushels, are up 80 percent from June 1, 2009. Off-farm stocks totaled 10.7 million bushels, down 9 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2010 indicated disappearance of 20.9 million bushels is up 191 percent from the same period a year earlier.

Barley stocks in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 115 million bushels, up 30 percent from June 1, 2009. On-farm stocks are estimated at 40.4 million bushels, 50 percent above a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 74.7 million bushels, are 21 percent above June 1, 2009. The March - May 2010 indicated disappearance is 42.2 million bushels, 5 percent above the same period a year earlier.

Oats stored in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 80.3 million bushels, 4 percent below the stocks on June 1, 2009. Of the total stocks on hand, 17.6 million bushels are stored on farms, 1 percent higher than a year ago. Off-farm stocks totaled 62.7 million bushels, 6 percent below the previous year. Indicated disappearance during March - May 2010 totaled 17.6 million bushels, compared with 11.4 million bushels during the same period a year ago.

Grain sorghum stored in all positions on June 1, 2010 totaled 87.9 million bushels, down 14 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks, at 10.7 million bushels, are down 11 percent from last year. Off-farm stocks, at 77.2 million bushels, are down 14 percent from June 1, 2009. The March - May 2010 indicated disappearance from all positions is 87.7 million bushels, down 15 percent from the same period last year.

Pulse crops stored in all positions on June 1, 2010 and the change from June 1, 2009 are: dry edible peas, 4.09 million cwt, up 6 percent; lentils, 399 thousand cwt, down 11 percent; Austrian winter peas, 60,000 cwt, up 82 percent; all chickpeas, 284,000 cwt, down 42 percent; small chickpeas, 86,000 cwt, down 26 percent; and large chickpeas, 198,000 cwt, down 47 percent. Small chickpeas are defined as peas that will pass through a 20/64 inch round hole screen.
