What's
New in Ag Literacy
Ag
in the Classroom Presentations sign-up begins
Sign up now to bring an
agricultural expert into your classroom for an engaging,
hands-on presentation! Ag in the Classroom lessons will be
offered in 1st through 4th grade
classrooms throughout the month of February, but you need to
submit your request form
no later than January 10, 2012. Help
your students understand the role of agriculture in our
everyday lives!
Food
for Thought Placemat Design Contest
Reinforce
what your students learned during their Ag in the Classroom
presentation or lessons you have taught about farming and
agriculture. All 1st through 5th
grade students are invited to enter. To encourage a
whole-class effort, we ask that the designs be created in the
classroom. A panel of judges, made up of members
of the Agricultural Literacy Committee, will select first,
second and third place winners at each grade level. The
contest culminates with recognition of the winners and their
teachers during an Awards Night at the Farm Bureau Center for
Agriculture. Designs from each grade earning first place
are printed on placemats for use in restaurants across the
county! Review contest rules.

Ag
Literacy Ambassadors
Most of the 46 elementary, middle and high schools in
DeKalb
County
now have an Ag Literacy Ambassador.
The Ambassadors have the inside track on the wealth of
educational resources and programs offered by our organization
and by organizations across the state and country.
They can help you find out how to tap into innovative
resources to teach about food production, nutrition, the
environment, energy, careers, and more!
Not sure if your school has an Ambassador?

If your school does not have an Ambassador and you’d
like to be that person, contact
Rhodora to find out how.
